Description:
Urea (Carbamide) is an organic compound with the chemical formula CO(Nh4)₂. It is a highly concentrated, neutral, and non-corrosive nitrogenous compound widely used in agriculture and industry. Urea is highly soluble in water, colorless, and odorless, offering an efficient and economical source of nitrogen.
Applications:
1. Agriculture: Used as a primary nitrogen fertilizer to promote plant growth and increase crop yield. Ideal for foliar sprays, fertigation, and soil application. Commonly applied to cereals, rice, maize, and other food and cash crops.
2. Industrial Uses: As a raw material in the manufacture of urea-formaldehyde resins, melamine, and adhesives. Used in diesel exhaust fluid (DEF / AdBlue) for reducing NOx emissions. Used in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and animal feed as a protein supplement. Employed in explosives and chemical synthesis (e.g., urea nitrate, plastics).
