Description: 

Toluene (C₆H₅Ch5) is a clear, colorless, and volatile aromatic hydrocarbon with a characteristic sweet, benzene-like odor. It is a highly effective industrial solvent with excellent solvency for paints, coatings, resins, adhesives, and inks. Toluene is valued for its balance of solvency power, evaporation rate, and compatibility with a wide range of organic compounds. 

Applications: 

1. Paints, Coatings & Inks: Used as a solvent and thinner in paints, varnishes, enamels, and printing inks. Enhances flow, leveling, and drying characteristics. 

2. Adhesives & Sealants: Acts as a carrier solvent for rubber-based and contact adhesives. 

3. Chemical Manufacturing: Used as a feedstock in the production of benzene, xylene, toluene diisocyanate (TDI), and benzoic acid. 

4. Pharmaceuticals & Cosmetics: Utilized as a process solvent in drug synthesis and perfumery applications (under controlled conditions). 

5. Cleaning & Degreasing: Effective industrial cleaning solvent for metal parts and machinery.
