Specialty Chemical / Solvent / Intermediate
Description
Tert-Butanol (TBA), also known as tert-Butyl alcohol, is a tertiary alcohol widely used as a solvent, chemical intermediate, and fuel additive. It is a colorless, flammable, solid or liquid (near melting point) with a characteristic camphor-like odor. Due to its unique branched structure, TBA provides excellent solvency, stability, and compatibility across diverse chemical and industrial applications.
Applications
- Intermediate for MTBE (Methyl Tert-Butyl Ether) production
- Solvent in coatings, inks, resins, and adhesives
- Raw material for tert-butyl derivatives (esters, ethers, and amines)
- Dehydration agent and extractant in pharmaceutical industry
- Used in gasoline blending and fuel formulations
- Intermediate in fragrance and flavor synthesis
