Description: 

Pentaerythritol (C₅h4₂O₄) is a white crystalline polyhydric alcohol containing four hydroxyl groups. It is non-volatile, non-toxic, and has excellent thermal stability. Due to its multi-functional structure, it serves as a key building block in the production of alkyd resins, polyester resins, lubricants, plasticizers, and explosives (PETN). Pentaerythritol is available in both technical and purified grades, depending on end-use requirements. 

Applications: 

1. Paints & Coatings Industry Used in manufacturing alkyd and polyester resins for paints, coatings, and varnishes. Provides improved gloss, hardness, and chemical resistance. 

2. Lubricants & Esters Used to produce synthetic lubricants and esters with high oxidation and thermal stability. 

3. Plasticizers & Stabilizers Acts as a crosslinking agent in plasticizers and stabilizers for PVC and other polymers. 

4. Explosives Industry Used in the synthesis of Pentaerythritol Tetranitrate (PETN), a high explosive compound. 

5. Flame Retardants Raw material for phosphorus-based flame retardant esters. 

6. Adhesives & Sealants Enhances bonding strength and flexibility in adhesive formulations.
