Methyl Acrylate (MA)
Category
Acrylic Ester / Monomer / Industrial Chemical / Polymer Intermediate
Description
Methyl Acrylate (MA) is a clear, colorless, volatile liquid with a pungent odor, primarily used as a reactive monomer in polymer production. It is highly reactive due to the acrylate double bond and is used to manufacture resins, adhesives, coatings, plastics, elastomers, and specialty polymers. MA offers excellent flexibility, adhesion, and chemical resistance properties when polymerized, making it essential in high-performance industrial applications.
Applications
- Adhesives & Sealants: Acrylic adhesives, pressure-sensitive adhesives
- Paints, Coatings & Inks: Acrylic resins, water-based & solvent-based coatings
- Polymer & Plastic Manufacturing: Elastomers, molding compounds, thermoplastics
- Textile & Leather Chemicals: Finishing agents, binders
- Paper Treatment & Additives: Strengthening & coating polymers
- Construction Chemicals: Grouts, sealants & waterproofing resins
- Chemical Intermediate: Production of specialty acrylate derivatives & surfactants
