Ethylenediamine (EDA)
Category
Amines / Chemical Intermediate / Industrial Solvent
Description
Ethylenediamine (EDA) is a clear, colorless, strongly alkaline liquid with a characteristic ammonia-like odor. It is a highly reactive primary aliphatic amine used extensively as a chemical intermediate in the production of chelating agents, corrosion inhibitors, surfactants, epoxy hardeners, and pharmaceuticals. EDA offers excellent nucleophilicity and strong chelating properties, making it an essential building block in industrial chemicals, resins, and specialty formulations.
Applications
- Epoxy Systems: Curing agent for epoxy resins
- Chelating Agents: Raw material for EDTA production
- Corrosion Inhibitors: Additive for oilfield & water-treatment applications
- Pharmaceuticals: Intermediate for APIs & specialty chemicals
- Textile Chemicals: Fabric softeners & antistatic agents
- Rubber Processing: Accelerator & stabilizer applications
- Agrochemicals: Intermediate for pesticide & fertilizer additives
