Diisopropyl Ether (DIPE)
Chemical Name: Diisopropyl Ether
Formula: (C3H7)2O | CAS No.: 108-20-3
Description
Diisopropyl Ether (DIPE) is a clear, highly volatile, flammable organic solvent belonging to the ether family. It is valued for its exceptional solvency, low water solubility, and ability to form azeotropes, making it highly effective in extraction and purification processes. DIPE is widely used in the chemical, pharmaceutical, and fuel industries as a solvent, extractant, and component in gasoline blending.
Applications
- Solvent in chemical synthesis and processing
- Extraction agent in pharmaceutical manufacturing
- Component in gasoline blending to improve octane value
- Solvent for fats, oils, and hydrocarbons
- Intermediate in specialty chemical production
- Used in purification and recrystallization applications
