Cyclohexanone
Rs 110 per Kg + GSt as applicable
(Also known as Oxocyclohexane or Pimelic Ketone)
Category: Cyclic Ketone / Solvent / Chemical Intermediate
Description: Cyclohexanone (C₆h4₀O) is a colorless to pale yellow oily liquid with a mild, sweet, acetone-like odor. It is a cyclic ketone primarily used as a solvent and intermediate in the manufacture of nylon, coatings, and pharmaceuticals. It is one of the most important industrial ketones, produced by oxidation of cyclohexane or dehydrogenation of cyclohexanol. Cyclohexanone’s balanced solvent power makes it ideal for cellulose derivatives, resins, and paints.
Applications:
1. Nylon Intermediates Major raw material for Adipic Acid and Caprolactam — key intermediates in Nylon-6 and Nylon-66 production.
2. Paints, Coatings & Inks Used as a solvent for resins, cellulose acetate, nitrocellulose, and vinyl polymers. Excellent for lacquers, adhesives, and industrial coatings.
3. Pharmaceuticals Intermediate in synthesis of drugs, hormones, and intermediates.
4. Rubber & Plastics Industry Used as a processing solvent for rubber-based adhesives and synthetic polymers.
5. Agrochemicals Intermediate for herbicides, pesticides, and plant growth regulators.
