Butyl Cellosolve
Rs 95 per Kg + GSt as applicable
(Also known as 2-Butoxyethanol / Ethylene Glycol Monobutyl Ether / EGBE)
Category: Glycol Ether Solvent / Coalescing Agent / Cleaning Agent
Description: Butyl Cellosolve (C₆h4₄O₂) is a clear, colorless liquid with a mild, sweet ether-like odor. It is a versatile glycol ether solvent widely used for its excellent solvency, moderate evaporation rate, and compatibility with both water and organic solvents. It is one of the most common solvents used in coatings, cleaners, inks, and chemical formulations, combining good surface wetting with strong solvency for polar and nonpolar materials.
Applications:
1. Paints & Coatings Used as a coalescing agent and solvent in latex paints, enamels, and industrial coatings. Improves film formation, flow, and gloss.
2. Cleaning Products Common ingredient in household, industrial, and institutional cleaners. Effective for grease, oil, and dirt removal due to dual hydrophilic–lipophilic balance.
3. Printing Inks & Dyes Used as a solvent for dyes and inks, ensuring smooth printing and color uniformity.
4. Textile Industry Used as a wetting and penetrating agent in textile dyeing and finishing.
5. Chemical Intermediate Raw material for butyl glycol acetate, plasticizers, and herbicide formulations.
